Applications




AIR SYSTEMS
HYDRA MAXX should be applied to both air compressor and air lubricator lubricants at a rate of 5%. Industrial users of Power Up products have reported reductions of compressor amperage draw of up to 20% after applying Power Up. Such applications have saved countless dollars in downtime and part replacement costs due to the excellent film properties of Power Up after the air lubricator had run dry of lubricant. Hydra Maxx can be applied neat to air tools to lubricate and remove sludge. Please consult your dealer before applying Power Up products to SYNTHETIC LUBRICANTS in air systems.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
Power Up NNL 690G can be added to automatic transmissions at the rate of 1%, and to heavy machinery torque type transmissions at a rate of 2% . If the transmission is slipping, do not add Power Up. Have the transmission inspected by an authorized mechanic first. An automatic transmission is operated through fluid pressure and fluid transfer. Lubrication is required to help the valves move freely, and to allow fluid transfer. If an automatic transmission shifts roughly, it may be due to sticking valves. Power Up can resolve this problem very quickly. (SEE WET CLUTCHES.)

BRASS AND WHITE METAL BEARINGS
Power Up can reduce brass and white metal bearing wear to a fraction. Power Up develops an extremely thin film to keep the two surfaces apart. Power Up does not contain any elements that are harmful or corrosive to brass or white metal bearings.

CNG, LPG & UPPER CYLINDER LUBRICANT
Applying Power Up to CNG and LPG engine oil at 3%, will often result in an increase of 300 to 500 rpm idle speed. Be sure to turn the idle back to the manufacturer's specification. The reason for increased idle speed is due to enhanced engine lubrication. Upper cylinder lubricators, often recommended for CNG & LPG engines, are often unnecessary with the addition of Power Up to the engine oil, however if an upper cylinder lubricant is required, Gen 49D can be applied.

DAIRY VACUUM PUMPS, SHEARING HANDPIECES
Simply add 50 mls. Power Up (5%) per litre oil, shake well, and apply to reduce noise, heat and wear. Once Power Up is mixed with oil, it will not drop out of suspension. DO NOT APPLY TO POLY GLYCOL BASED LUBRICANTS.

EP LUBRICANTS (GEAR OIL)
Power Up NNL 690G can be added to most gear oils at a rate of 5% (see limited slip differentials). Power Up NNL 690G is specifically designed for EP gear oils and is recommended for all gear oil applications. The alkalinity reserve of Power Up NNL 690 can cause some effervescence when added to the new generation fatty acid based oils. Power Up NNL 690G does not contain this alkalinity reserve additive package. Some of the benefits using Power Up NNL 690G in gear oil are reduced frictional power loss, quieter and smoother operation especially in colder temperatures, and reduced operating temperatures. Testing with direct drive gearboxes has shown reduced ultra sonic noise levels, operating temperature and energy costs in most cases as a direct result of the addition of Power Up.

ENGINE APPLICATIONS, DIESEL & PETROL
Power Up NNL 690 is applied at a rate of 3% to diesel and petrol engines. Power Up is most beneficial to turbo equipped engines, as it provides superior lubrication film retention for start up and shut down periods when most turbo and engine wear occurs. POWER UP CAN BE APPLIED TO BOTH SYNTHETIC & MINERAL ENGINE OILS. Power Up can be used in new engines at a rate of 3%, as there are no bore glazing elements in Power Up.

SOME ENGINES ARE JUST TOO WORN OUT FOR POWER UP. Please remember Power Up cannot replace wear on already worn parts such as pistons, rings, valve guides, and camshafts, only a mechanic with replacement parts can do this. However, in many cases, Power Up, when used as directed, has eliminated, or slowed considerably, excessive oil consumption. Engine sludge and acid build up are two of the major reasons behind oil consumption, and Power Up is very effective in reducing these two problems.

BEFORE APPLYING POWER UP, CHANGE OIL AND FILTER FIRST. BE SURE TO USE THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFIED GRADE OF OIL. Run for 800 kms or 15 hours, and then change engine oil and filters. In excessively sludged engines, it may be necessary to apply at a rate of 5% two or three arial,verdana. Once an engine is clear of sludge and other contaminants, Power Up will keep the engine oil cleaner longer. (SEE OIL QUALITY) Diesel 2 stoke engines are extremely prone to sludging, and Power Up is very effective preventing such problems. Power Up can free up and quieten noisy lifters.

POWER UP IS NON ACCUMULATIVE. WHEN THE OIL IS CHANGED, POWER UP MUST BE APPLIED TO THE NEW OIL AT THE SAME RATE.

ENGINES WITHOUT OIL FILTERS
Many small lawn mower and stationary engines, and vintage petrol engines (prior to 1948) do not have an oil filter. Due to the excellent cleaning ability of Power Up, the following steps should be taken. Drain out the old oil, and replace with new oil. Add 3% Power Up (30 mls Power Up per litre oil) to the new engine oil. Run for an hour, drain and replace the oil again. Check oil frequently, and if it turns dark, change oil. Recommended is a further engine oil change after 15 hours of operation. Power Up can release harmful carbon deposits and other contaminants. If allowed to circulate, these contaminants can cause premature wear.

FUEL SAVINGS
Many of our clientele have informed us of fuel savings as a direct result of using Power Up and Gen 49D, although any fuel savings gained are a secondary benefit. Equipment design, driver habit, maintenance standards and a variety of other factors give a wide variation of fuel savings through the use of Power Up. It is not uncommon to have fuel savings from 5% - 10%, and in some cases, much more. The more severe the conditions and the heavier the work that the vehicle is performing, the better the fuel savings seem to be. For the best results, treat the entire vehicle with Power Up products.

GREASE
To blend Power Up into a tube of grease, pour 25 mls of Power Up in the top of the tube of grease, then use a long wire rod to poke holes to the bottom of the tube of grease so that the Power Up is evenly dispersed, then stir until evenly blended. For pails and drums of grease, simply multiply the weight of the grease by 5% to determine the amount of litres of Power Up required. Use a broomhandle to poke holes to the bottom of the container to evenly disperse the Power Up, then stir until evenly blended.

THIXOGREASE has proved most effective in the arrest of turntable wear on artic trucks, diggers and irrigation equipment. Thixogrease also has an excellent effect on open bearings in headers and on mower bearings, providing an adherent microscopic film to reduce wear and protect from dust, contamination and water moisture. District councils and golf courses report of vastly improved bearing life. Another excellent application is on wheel bearings, especially on boat trailers that may experience a long hot drive before being immersed into cold water. Thixogrease protects against rust and corrosion.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
Hydra Maxx is particularly effective in hydraulic systems in reducing heat, increasing hydraulic pump & hose life, power and performance, and eliminating valve body sludges, and hydraulic pump whine. Apply Hydra Maxx at 3% to hydraulic systems having a capacity of over 50 litres oil, however, if the system is under extreme conditions, treat at a full 5%. In systems under 50 litre capacity, apply Hydra Maxx at 5%. Hydra Maxx contains a pour point depressant for cold weather applications.

CHECK THE HYDRAULIC OIL BEFORE APPLYING HYDRA MAXX. If the oil is BURNT, CONTAMINATED or CLOSE to the END of its SERVICE LIFE, drain the oil and change hydraulic oil filters before applying Hydra Maxx. Hydra Maxx does not affect seals or create seal leakage if the seals are in satisfactory condition. (SEE SEAL LEAKS)

HYDRAULIC WOOL PRESSES
Often cold winter conditions can make wool presses slow to start. Add Hydra Maxx at 5% to give easier starts, and keep valve bodies clear of sludges. Not only is it possible to drop amperage on the electric drive motor, the hydraulics will also run cooler and quieter in summer heat.

LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS
Limited slip differential lubricants already contain an anti-friction additive, which is used to prevent sticking and grabbing of clutch plates when making a turn under normal conditions. The introduction of 5% Power Up NNL 690G on top of the existing additive can cause an overdose situation. In case of a noisy limited slip differential, the existing oil should be drained out and replaced, then treated with 2% Power Up NNL 690G (SEE WET CLUTCHES). Should a limited slip differential be accidentally overdosed with Power Up, simply drain the oil out, and replace with new oil. The Power Up will go out with the oil, as POWER UP IS NOT A METAL TREATMENT TYPE ADDITIVE.

MACHINING AND PENETRATING OIL
Use Power Up Nutcracker to thread taps and dies more easily as well as a penetrating oil. To free up a weather seized motor, apply Nutcracker, and allow to soak in cylinders overnight. Work the crankshaft back and forth until full movement is possible. Nutcracker makes an excellent household lubricant eliminating squeaks out of door hinges, locks, sliding and garage doors, as well as an excellent racing bike chain oil.


OIL QUALITY
DUE TO THE EXCELLENT CLEANING ABILITY OF POWER UP, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL AND FILTERS AFTER 800 KMS OR 15 HOURS OF OPERATION AFTER THE FIRST APPLICATION OF POWER UP. Due to this flushing of contaminants, oil consumption may rise slightly after first using Power Up. This will settle after a period of use, and in time, the oil consumption in most cases has been eliminated entirely. Oil Dispersant Tests are provided at no cost for all 4, 10 and 20 litre purchases of Power Up. These tests are not designed to be accurate, however they work as an excellent field guide to when oil should be changed.

EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE USED IN TAKING OIL CHANGE INTERVALS PAST THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE PERIOD. Various additives are applied to the base stock by the oil manufacturer. One group of additives handle contaminants in the oil by dispersing sludges and contaminants, and depositing this matter in the oil filter. After a period of time, these additives are used up, and depleted. The oil filters and the oil then become laden with contaminants, which will then by-pass the oil filter. The oil and the oil filter can no longer do what they were designed to do, and this can lead to rapid engine failure. Long term Power Up users have noticed their engine oil staying cleaner longer. This is a direct result of having an engine running cleaner and cooler. POWER UP CANNOT RENEW WORN OUT OIL, AND POWER UP IS SIMPLY BEING WASTED APPLYING IT TO ANY KIND OF OIL THAT IS CLOSE TO THE END OF ITS SERVICE LIFE.

BE SURE TO USE THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED GRADE AND VISCOSITY OF ENGINE OIL


SEALED BEARINGS
If it is possible to dismantle the bearing, apply Thixogrease. Otherwise simply inject some Power Up through the seal. Conveyor rollers can be treated in the same manner by simply lifting the rubber dust seal, and squirting Power Up on to the bearing. Sealed bearings should be lightly greased as over greasing can cause premature failure of the bearing. These guidelines can triple bearing life.

SEAL LEAKS
Any gasket or seal in reasonable condition which is compatible with petroleum based products will not be affected by Power Up products. HOWEVER, OLDER SEALS THAT HAVE SLUDGE FILLED CRACKS MAY LEAK ONCE POWER UP REMOVES THE SLUDGE DEPOSITS. Such seals are past their service life, and should be changed prior to the addition of Power Up products. Care must be taken treating systems that have had a history of chronic overheating. Gaskets and seals should be carefully checked first and replaced if in worn or poor condition. Power Up products have been most effective in stopping seal leakage where deposit build up has been present in the existing lubricant.

STEERING BOXES AND STEERING COMPONENTRY
Manual steering boxes, primarily grease filled ones, tend to stiffen with age, especially those found in older vehicles Add 25 mls Power Up to car steering boxes, and 50 mls to larger truck steering boxes. Often king pins can make steering tight because of hardened grease which will not allow fresh grease to penetrate and lubricate fully. Simply remove the grease nipple, use a piece of wire to clear away hardened grease, squirt some Power Up in the hole, replace the nipple, and pump just enough Power Up treated grease to put slight pressure on the Power Up so it will penetrate the hardened grease. Several treatments may be necessary in severe cases. For non greasable tie rod ends, simply lift the dust rubber, and squirt Power Up on neat.

WET CLUTCHES
We have received many concerns in regard to the use of Power Up in wet clutches. Much of this concern is related to the confusion between Power Up and metal type conditioners, which function and reduce friction by creating an artificial coating on metal surfaces. Power Up simply increases the film strength of the oil. When clutch plates are applied, they have a tendency to slide into engagement and thus the oil (and Power Up) are wiped clean and returned to the sump. It is most important not to overdose the recommendations for wet clutches, and if slipping occurs, simply drain oil and replace with fresh oil. Should the clutch be slipping before the addition of Power Up, do not apply Power Up. Have the clutch repaired first. Power Up should not be applied to wet clutches in motorcycles that are close to the end of their service life.

WARRANTY
Power Up does not trade in the sale of vehicle warranties. However Power Up does have a public liability insurance policy coverage. This policy does not cover claims for damages where Power Up is not used according to company literature and labelling, and componentry used beyond the manufacturer's specification, such as racing, overloading, and insufficient maintenance.
